“The Guiding Light: Anguri Devi’s Journey through Darkness”

Case Story 3-min

Anguri Devi, the matriarch of her small family, had always been the pillar of strength for her loved ones. However, as she grew older, her eyesight began to deteriorate due to cataract. It saddened her to struggle with her daily life and the fact that she was unable to do her household chores. Inability to afford the treatment due to low household income added to her difficulties.

One day, a community eye health worker visited her home while conducting the  “door to door eye screening" in her village. She volunteered herself for the screening and explained the issues with her vision and the family's economic situation. The health worker counseled her and suggested a visit to the nearby vision centre- Kathumar Netra Janch Kendra for her further examination.

Upon visiting the vision centre, Mrs Anguri was referred to the main hospital “Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital- Alwar”. The team arranged a pick & drop facility for her, like they do for other patients from the same village.

Under the expert care of Dr. Shroff's eye hospital- Alwar team, Anguri devi underwent a successful cataract surgery. The clouded lenses that had shrouded her vision were replaced with clear artificial lenses, restoring her eyesight.Anguri devi regained her independence and continues to be an epitome of strength for her family. Thus with the intervention of Shroff and the generosity of our donors, we have been able to provide them with the gift of sight. This transformative impact would not have been possible without the unwavering support and belief of our compassionate donors.
