Clinical Research

Overview

Research has been an integral part of our hospital. This includes both basic science and clinical research. It was initiated by a few likeminded research enthusiasts and academicians whose sole motive was the facilitation of ethical research and innovation in the field of Ophthalmology at Dr Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital.

Who We Are

Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH) research department is registered and recognized by the Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) since 2013. As per the curriculum of our fellowship program in various sub-specialities at our Institute, all the fellow doctors need to engage in one or more clinical research studies. This helps to sow the seed of research and encourage them to come out with new research ideas and get their papers published in journals or present their work in various conferences. We have regular classes and workshops teaching research methodology to budding researchers.

SCEH also has two governing bodies that are responsible for ensuring the scientific content of each study being conducted along with ensuring the safety of the patients. The Institutional review board (IRB) and the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) comprising of both external and internal members is present as per the guidelines and the quorum requirements of CDSCO & ICMR. The Committee monitors the conduct of clinical trials as per GCP and the EC SOP.

More than 100 papers are published every year in various prestigious peer reviewed journals both national and international
