Unlocking the Power of sight: Story of Change

“The world looked brighter, and I felt like a new man.”

Phatteram's story is one of struggle and resilience. He used to work side by side with his sons in the fields, but his blurred vision changed everything. It became increasingly difficult for him to contribute, putting pressure on his sons and crushing his own self-worth.

Unable to carry out daily activities or support his family, Phatteram felt immense misery and shame. In his community, he became a subject of ridicule, even teased by children. He withdrew from the outside world, isolating himself completely.
And then one day, he heard an announcement from the Deeg Netra Jaanch Kendra by BHRC- Dr. Shroff’s Eye Care Hospital in Vrindavan.

They offered eye screenings and treatment. Though hesitant at first, with the encouragement of his family and the support of his wife, he underwent a screening. The treatment advice was- cataract surgery in both eyes, starting with the right.

At the hospital, Phatteram expressed concern about the cost. However, he was relieved to learn that the hospital provided free care to those in need, including post-operative medication. The surgery went smoothly, and when the bandage was removed, a new chapter began for him.

“𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧.”

A message by Phatteram translated into English -

“Cataract surgery is a blessing. The hospital staff and vision center are incredibly helpful and committed. They made me independent again, allowing me to assist my wife and resume household activities. I highly recommend the hospital and encourage others to get eye checkups. Thank you so much!"
