Mr. Shivam Maurya, an 18-year-old boy, has been facing difficulties in studying for the past 4-5 years due to poor vision in both eyes. He is currently pursuing a B.Sc. in Agriculture from Prof. Rajendra Singh University in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, and is known for being a sincere and hardworking student. In 2014, he was diagnosed with Optic Atrophy in both eyes at a hospital near his hometown. Shivam's father, a tailor by profession with a low monthly income, was unable to support his education, so Shivam had to provide home tuitions to continue his studies.
During his visit to our Vision Enhancement Center, Shivam underwent a comprehensive evaluation and was given a trial of an Electronic Low Vision device - a Portable Video Magnifier, which significantly improved his reading comfort. We observed that he was highly motivated and enthusiastic about pursuing his studies. However, due to his family's poor financial status, he was unable to purchase the device. Therefore, we provided him with the Portable Video Magnifier as part of our Vision Aid Project. Shivam expressed immense gratitude to SCEH and Vision Aid for their support. He also shared some photos of himself using the device after returning home.
