LASIK – ‘laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis’ – is the most commonly performed laser eye surgery to correct vision in people who have myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism. The LASER basically corrects refractive error by reshaping the cornea to incorporate the spectacle correction onto the cornea. The surgery itself is essentially pain-free and takes only about 15 minutes for both eyes. The results — improved vision without eyeglasses or contact lenses — begin immediately after the procedure and vision usually continues to improve and stabilise over a few days.
SCEH was one of the first centres in Delhi to offer LASER vision correction for refractive errors, and also one of the first to offer blade-free Femto LASIK as an option for thinner and more precise flap designs.
Today, we are proud to offer the most advanced technologies for vision correction – these include AMO Visx Star S4 CustomVue Excimer LASER with Wavescan (IR) and Intralase 150 Hz iFS Femtosecond (FS) Laser. We also have the most sophisticated diagnostic testing and machine software to track, analyse and optimise the outcome of every procedure we perform.
The team comprises fellowship-trained cornea and refractive surgery specialists who have together performed over 10,000 successful procedures over the last 20 years. SCEH has a long-term follow-up record of the LASER surgeries performed, all with very good outcomes.
SCEH offers treatment options even for those patients who may be deemed unfit for undergoing LASIK surgery due to thin cornea. These options include:
-Implantable contact lens (ICL) surgery
-LASIK extra (LASIK with cross-linking)
-PRK extra (PRK with cross-linking)
-Keratoconus treatment (Intacs and cross-linking)
-Clear lens extraction
