Optometry is the comprehensive eye examination arm of SCEH and has a dedicated team of nearly 40 professional optometrists who provide the core clinical services.
The clinic engages in screening, diagnosis, treatment and eye health promotions, treatment and rehabilitation through spectacles and various optometry sub-specialty clinics like low vision, specialized contact lens for irregular corneas, ocular prosthesis and binocular vision therapy.
Eye examination and eye testing to determine nature and extent of vision problems and abnormalities
-Assessing ocular health and visual functions by measuring visual acuity and refractive error; testing the functions of visual pathways, visual fields, eye movements, freedom of vision and intra-ocular pressure; and performing other tests using various equipment in specialty eye clinics
-Detecting, diagnosing, and managing eye disease
-Diagnosing eye-movement disorders and defects of binocular function
-Prescribing spectacles, contact lenses, low-vision aids, and ocular prosthesis
-Prescribing exercises to coordinate movements and focusing of eyes, and instructing and counselling patients in the use of corrective techniques and eye exercises
-Advising on visual health matters such as contact-lens care, vision care for the elderly, optics, visual ergonomics and occupational and industrial eye safety
-Academic services such as optometry-enhancement training programmes – through fellowships, internships, short-term programmes, etc. – for national and international candidates

-Pre- and post-refractive surgery
